The Nintendo Wii it seems, puts pay to the concerns in recent years over the inactivity in children due to their interest in video games consoles. The Wii console really sets itself apart from the rest with its  revolutionary motion sensitive controller, which actually requires movement in order to play the games.

The Nintendo Wii comes with the game Wii Sports, which includes tennis, baseball, bowling, golf and boxing. In tennis you will be swinging the remote as if it were a tennis racket and flicking it up to toss the ball into the air with a quick swing to serve just like the real thing. The other Wii Sports games work in a similar way simulating controller movements for like movements onscreen. Boxing however is the only  Wii Sports game  that uses the  nunchuk attachment and is the most physically exhausting game of them all. In order to hit your opponent in the head or body, you will have to aim high or low with your swings.

There are three different activities with each game. In training mode, you will participate in random challenges, after which you will be assigned a fitness age, based on your performance. Sound familiar? The Nintendo DS game, Brain Training comes to mind…a physical version perhaps?

The important thing here is that gamers are becoming more physically active without even realising it – you could say it has a ‘kill two birds with one stone’ effect, combining video game play with physical activity, so given this ‘physical’ nature of the Wii, I wouldn’t be surprised if parents rushed out to buy Nintendo Wii just to get their kids off the sofa!

How To Lose Weight Using The Wii Fit

Wii Fit is a combination of fitness and fun, designed for everyone, young and old. By playing Wii Fit a little every day, you, your friends, and your family can work towards personal goals of better health and fitness. And lose some weight? YES

So can one lose weight using the Wii fit- that’s the million dollar question? YES DEFINITELY. As long as you use it regularly and with the proper workout – with 4 to 5 regular 45 minute workouts per week you will reach your weight loss goals and get fit and have fun doing it.

But just as important is the type of workout you choose. Many people have reported the Wii Fit did not help them lose weight or get fit and there are 2 reasons for this – they didn’t work out on a regular basis and when they did they used the wrong workout. So here’s the way to lose weight using your new Christmas gift(and I am assuming you are routinely working out 5 times a week for a minimum of 45 minutes a week:

Rule 1: The balance games are fun but do not really help so they are not part of the routine. They are only to be used as a break after completing the aerobic workout. So after completing the 10 minute advance step program you can use a balance game to catch your breath.

But other than that they are not to be a part of your regular routine. Or after you have lost your five pounds for the week you can reward yourself with a 10 minute game of soccer ball goalie. But people who complained about not losing weight spent too much time playing the balance games. They help your hand eye coordination but they do nothing to help you reach your weight loss goals. Avoid them or do them extras above and beyond your normal workout.

Rule 2: Do 3 Aerobic exercises every session. Whether its boxing or steps or running or Hula hoops  be sure you do at least 3 aerobic programs. And go as long as the system will allow you. So once the aerobic steps allows you to complete 5 minutes instead of 3 minutes always step up to and complete the extra time.

And alternate between the aerobics and the other programs. For example start with a long run then do a couple "yoga’s" followed by the aerobic boxing and then maybe a strength program and then back to a step program. The key is to pick the exercises you like but to switch back and forth with at least half your time doing aerobics and no balance games.

Rule3 Balance the rest of the session with yoga and strength exercises.

Rule 4: Workout at least every other day and at least 5 times a week but only completes the body test every other workout session. It’s great to monitor your results but every day is too often. Following this routine I have lost 20 pounds in 7 weeks and 26 pounds in 16 weeks.

Its averaged 3 pounds a week with several weeks of 5 pound weight loses. In conclusion, it works. But like any exercise it only works if the person using it is willing to put in the effort. I could have achieved the same results simply by doing sit-ups and push-ups every day, and going for a run. However I don’t realistically believe that I would have had enough motivation to do that.

It works because it shows me everyday how much I weigh, how much time I’ve invested, and how well I am doing on my exercises. It also keeps fantastic records that I can look back on and it makes charts showing my progress (or lack thereof). The balance board is nothing magical.

Just by standing on it you don’t get a better body. You have to put in the time. What Wii Fit tries to do is to make that time enjoyable, and for me it accomplished that goal. I did the work – it helped record it, make it fun and motivated me.

The Wii Balance Board is more than just a scale it can read your real-life movements and bring them to life on screen, just like the Wii Remote" controller.  Realistically snowboard down a mountain or walk a tight ropeit’s just one more way to get into the game.

The Body Test in Wii Fit is a short and simple set of activities used to gauge your body’s performance. After choosing a Mii" – a virtual caricature unique to Wii – to represent you, use the Wii Balance Board to measure your center of balance, Body Mass Index (BMI), and body control.

Based on these results, you can also determine your Wii Fit Age. The whole family can engage in the Body Test and compare their progress together! Check your daily progress in Wii Fit with easy-to-understand charts and graphs.

The orange line you see in the center of the graph represents your BMI the first time you checked it. From then on, it’s easy to tell how you’ve done since you started using Wii Fit. You can also set goals, check your Wii Fit Age, and even enter exercise time you’ve done outside of Wii Fit.

As you spend time exercising, you’ll earn Fit Credits that unlock additional exercises and activities within these categories. Wii Fit also tracks the activities you do the most and puts them into the Favorites category.

– Strength Training: Put your strength to the test with muscle-toning exercises like Single Leg Extension, Sideways Leg Lift, Arm and Leg Lift, Single-Arm Stand, Torso Twists, Rowing Squat, Single Leg Twist, Lunge, Push-Up and Side Plank, Jackknife, Plank and Triceps Extension. Challenges include Push-Up Challenge, Plank Challenge and Jackknife Challenge. -

Aerobics: Get your heart pumping with fun, interactive Aerobic exercises like Hula Hoop, Basic Step, Basic Run, Super Hula Hoop, Advanced Step, 2-P Run, Rhythm Boxing, Free Step and Free Run.

– Yoga: Work on your balance and flexibility with Yoga poses and activities like Deep Breathing, Half-Moon, Dance, Cobra, Bridge, Spinal Twist, Shoulder Stand, Warrior, Tree, Sun Salutation, Standing Knee, Palm Tree, Chair, Triangle and Downward-Facing Dog.

– Balance Games: Get into the action with fun, balanced-based games like Soccer Heading, Ski Slalom, Ski Jump, Table Tilt, Tightrope Walk, Balance Bubble, Penguin Slide, Snowboard Slalom and Lotus Focus.

Tracking Results: – Keep tabs on your daily progress with easy-to-understand graphs and charts. Using your personal profile, you can set goals, view a graph of your BMI results over time, see how many Fit Credits you’ve earned, check your Wii Fit Age and even enter exercise time you’ve done outside of Wii Fit. It’s all about coming back and exercising a little every day, and the personal profile makes tracking your daily progress simple and easy.

– You can quickly check your Wii Fit Age and BMI without even putting the game in the console by going directly to the Wii Fit Channel. – On the profile-selection screen, everyone in the family can see each other’s recent BMI progress and Fit Credit total. – Before you jump into doing exercises and activities, you’ll start by creating your own profile. Choose a Mii, enter your height and age information, and do a few quick tests:

– BMI Check: BMI, or Body Mass Index, is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that is the standard used by agencies such as the World Health Organization and the National Institute of Health. To check your BMI, you’ll enter your height then stand on the Wii Balance Board and let it read your weight.

– Wii Fit Age: After you’ve checked your BMI, you’ll do a basic balance test and find out your current Wii Fit Age. This basic balance test measures how well you can control your left and right balance. Based on the results, you’ll be assigned a Wii Fit Age.

Body Test: Wii Fit works best if you perform a Body Test every week not every day as they recommend. In this test, you’ll use the Wii Balance Board accessory to measure your center of balance, Body Mass Index (BMI), and body control.

Based on these results, you can also determine your Wii Fit Age. Much like Brain Age", you can chart your daily progress and compare it against previous results, as well as other friends and family who play Wii Fit.

Wii Balance Board Games

Are you getting sick and tired of sitting in front of the computer playing video games? If so, perhaps the Nintendo Wii  offers a great alternative. When you play games on the computer, you sit in front of the system for hours, using your fingers to type or click.

In the long run, this may pose serious health hazards for you. Stiff or incorrect posture can cause injuries to your neck, shoulder, as well as spinal area. Your wrists may also get injured as well if you are not careful.

Nintendo Wii games work very differently from traditional computer games. The system works with sensors, and controllers are sensor based. That means there are no wires connecting the controllers to the system. And that allows greater freedom of movement. You can play all kinds of fun and exciting games on the Nintendo Wii. Popular games include bowling, tennis, boxing , and Aerobics dance workout.

The gaming concept is simple – allow players to respond to signals in the game using the controllers. With a greater degree of movement, fans find that they get a great work out while playing Wii games. It’s only a matter time that Nintendo starts releasing fitness related games. True enough, we now have the Wii balance board.

With the release of the balance board, fans can now enjoy a whole range of different games. When the balance board was first released, you have to buy it together with a game called Wii Fit. Fans are thrilled by the balance board, but they also want to find out if the balance board is available for sale without the purchase of Wii Fit. After all, there are other games that they can play using the balance board. Unfortunately, the answer to that question is a disappointing "no". You cannot buy the balance board without the Wii Fit .

Realizing that there is a gap in the market, manufacturers started to release copycat balance boards. These are boards that work in the same way as the original balance board, but you don’t have to buy it together with Wii Fit. As far as fans are concerned, they don’t really care. As long as the balance board works, they are happy.

This happens when you get too carried away while playing the games. You may also find yourself getting addicted to the games and playing too many hours. This may cause bodily injuries to various parts of your body such as your wrist or knee.

So play with moderation and enjoy your Nintendo Wii balance board.

According to statistics, most people who bought the Wii Fit  Balance Board, don’t play it after like 7-8 days of playing time… are you one of them? Here are some of the Balance Board that have been released that utilize the Wii Fit Balance Board.

Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum is a very popular game. It is similar to the original Wii Fit game, except featuring The Biggest Loser trainer, Jillian Michaels.

You can workout in 4 different ways. You can do interval training, focus on weight loss and fat burning, build your strength, and or hill climbing for endurance.

In addition to workouts, there are also opportunities for fun, including rowing and climbing all over the monkey bars. The game will track all of your fitness progress towards your goals to become healthier. You can also gain tips along the ways from Jillian Michaels herself.

Shaun White Snowboarding has been a top seller. It’s almost like you’re on a real snowboard when using the Wii Balance Board. You can perform different tricks on the mountain, including rail tricks, awesome aerial tricks, and tricks along the snow.
Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party is a fun game for the whole entire family.

The commercials with the people playing on their butts are hilarious. You can play a bunch of mini games that utilize the balance board, for wacky, previously un-thought of uses.
We Ski is also one of the most popular games for the Wii Fit. This was one of the first ones to hit the marketing that utilized the balance board. You can play 4-player ski races with the whole entire family!

There are different skill level mountains, for beginners, intermediate skiers, and the black diamond mountain slopes for the professionals. There are different race types including freestyle, races, and slaloms. You can also ski with your Mii character that you created.
